Nahas Angula(121 total words in this text) (201 Reads) Nahas Gideon Angula (born August 22, 1943[1][2]) is the current Prime Minister of Namibia. He entered into office on March 21, 2005, when his appointment was announced by new president Hifikepunye Pohamba during the latter's inauguration.[3] A member of the National Assembly since 1990, Angula was minister of education, sport, and culture from 1990 to 1995 and minister of higher education from 1995[1][2] until 2005. Angula was one of three candidates who sought the SWAPO ruling party's nomination as its presidential candidate in May 2004.[4] He came in third place and was therefore excluded from the second round of voting, in which Pohamba was victorious against Hidipo Hamutenya.[5] |
