 | | R&B singer Bobby Brown turned himself in to jail officials four hours before a court-imposed deadline over charges of attacking his wife, Whitney Houston. Mr Brown was released after posting a $2,000 (£1,094) bond at Fulton County sheriff's department in Atlanta.
In May a court ruled that Mr Brown, 35, must stand trial on battery charges for allegedly hitting Houston at their Georgia home in December. He could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 (£537) fine.
Mr Brown and Houston, 40, have been married since 1992 and have a 10-year-old daughter.
In June Mr Brown has been given a suspended jail sentence after missing three child support payments.
He had been jailed for one day in March after failing to pay $63,500 (£34,797) to Kim Ward, the mother of two of his children, now aged 12 and 14.
Mr Brown was also jailed in February for violating probation on a drink-driving charge.
