Sicherheitskräfte patrouillieren auf der Landebahn des internationalen Flughafens Windhoek und inmitten des Rollfeldes drehen sich aufgelöste Pferde wieder und wieder um die eigene Achse. Nach 24 Stunden Transport haben zwei Hengste und drei Stuten erstmals wieder festen Boden unter den Hufen. Etwas scheu und steif vom langen Stillstehen in ihrem Container lassen sich die Araber-Stuten willig am Strick über das Rollfeld zum Pferdeanhänger führen, der sie vom Flugplatz zur staatlichen Quarantänestation Bergvlug bringen soll. Nur der neunjährige Graphik Ibn Bagdad gebärdet sich, als gehöre der Flughafen ihm. Hoch erhobenen Hauptes tänzelt der zierliche Fuchs in Hengst-Manier auf dem Asphalt und wiehert laut nach seinen Stuten.

Namibian Elections 2004

EISA launches its Regional Election Observer Mission for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections due to be held in Namibia on 15-16 November 2004. Leading the delegation will be Dr Gloria Somolekae. The mission will be composed of 31 members drawn from civil society organisations, election management bodies and academic institutions from Switzerland and various SADC countries, namely Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
