PostNuke 27/12/2006 09:03  - (SA)Johannesburg - Mpumalanga police still are searching for the body of a man swept off a flooded bridge between Standerton and Secunda, said superintendent Abie Khoabane on Wednesday.
The driver of a Mercedes-Benz went missing after his vehicle was washed away off the small bridge on the Brandon private road about 21:30 on Monday after heavy rains in the area. Khoabane said the man's car got stuck in the water overflowing the bridge. He got out of the car, but the current washed him away and he disappeared into the Brandon River. The river eventually flows into the Vaal River. Brandon road closed Police had been searching for the man since Monday night, said Khoabane. "It started raining again on Tuesday afternoon and the search had to be called off". The search was due to continue on Wednesday morning, he said. "The Brandon road is still closed". Khoabane said motorists should use the N17 as that road was open.
