 | | At least eight Iraqis have been killed and more than 30 injured by a suicide bombing in Baghdad, police say.
The bomber targeted a group of men waiting at the side
of a road, hoping for work on construction sites, police Lieutenant
Bilal Ali said.
He said the explosion occurred at about 0700 (0400 GMT) near the Sunni Muslim al-Samaraei mosque in New Baghdad.
Officials said there had been no security forces at the scene, and the reason for the attack was unclear.
"We were eating breakfast and we heard an explosion. We
went to see what happened and we saw people torn apart on the
pavement," said Mohammed Daoud, a labourer.
Insurgent attacks have killed thousands of people in
Iraq, and many have targeted those working, or applying to work, for
the military and police. | |
