Namibia in the NewsTHIEVES at the weekend made off with a bakkie belonging to a journalist who works for the Namibia Press Agency (Nampa) at Ongwediva.
Mathias Nanghanda told The Namibian that the thieves arrived at his house at Ongwediva during the early hours of Saturday. They broke the main gate and pushed his private Toyota pick-up several metres outside the gate. Once they were a fair distance away from Nanghanda's house, they started the vehicle and sped off. The theft has been reported to the Police at Ongwediva and Oshakati. Residents of Ongwediva have reported an increase in the number of car thefts at the town. As a result, most residents now park their vehicles at the Ongwediva Police sub station. They are also demanding that the Police at Ongwediva start conducting regular night patrols and that the Police sub station be provided with transport so that officers are able to quickly track down criminals.
