 | | NAMPOL Liaison Officer for Omusati region, Sergeant Linekela Shikongo, told The Namibian yesterday that Police had arrested Ananias Michael (27) from Oshitutuma village on July 4, after it was reported to them that Michael had allegedly raped another young man, aged 27, between the nights of June 30 and July 1.
Michael appeared in the Outapi Magistrate's Court on July 5, charged with rape and his case was postponed to September 29 for further investigation.
He was not granted bail and remains in custody at Outapi Police station.
According to Sergeant Shikongo, Michael confessed that on the night of June 30, he and a friend were drinking and he (Michael) decided to go and sleep at his friend's house.
He found someone in the bed, whom he thought was his friend's girlfriend, and sodomised the person.
The Police liaison officer said the victim underwent medical treatment at Oshikuku Hospital on July 6.
