F.B.I., Challenging Use of Seal, Gets Back a Primer on the Law
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has taken on everyone from Al Capone to John Dillinger to the Unabomber. Its latest adversary: Wikipedia.
The bureau wrote a letter in July to the Wikimedia Foundation, the parent organization of Wikipedia, demanding that it take down an image of the F.B.I. seal accompanying an article on the bureau, and threatened litigation: “Failure to comply may result in further legal action. We appreciate your timely attention to this matter.”
RDP Press release on GIPF fraud: a stitched-up job at NAMFISA?
The Rally for Democracy was shocked to learn that the government of the Republic of Namibia is hesitant to launch an immediate investigation into the GIPF scam. According to the New Era, 26th July 2010, Both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance have apparently indicated that government will leave the investigation of the missing millions to NAMFISA. We find this attitude very strange indeed. What are they trying to cover up? N$600 million or more is a lot of money and money cannot just be lost like that.
Strange happenings with the GIPF investigations
Last week’s violent robbery of forensic computer expert Wayne Phillip’s laptop computers was the eighth such incident since 2005 that laptops and other computers containing crucial and potentially incriminating data were targeted in what increasingly appears to be a case of state capture of Namibia’s financial regulatory environment.
What the Lubowski Family would like you to know - THE SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH IS COMPLETE
When Anton Lubowski was assassinated on 12 September 1989, it changed the lives of those close to him forever. The family, as well as many of his friends, and even outsiders, have for the last 20 years attempted to unravel the events around his death. No matter who it was that tried to find answers, their experiences have one common denominator – the more they began to search for answers the darker and confusing and contradictory it became.
WORKERS AT NUJOMA’S FURTIVE PALACE COMPLAIN AGAINST CHINESE
A group of more than 15 Namibian construction workers are bitterly complaining about the non-payment or remuneration against the Qing Dao Construction company, a Chinese firm contracted to build President Sam Nujoma’s new multi-million dollar palace. They are complaining about exploitation and other unfair labor practices. The aggrieved workers, who chose to remain anonymous, told human rights defenders that they are being abused allegedly by their Chinese supervisors, inter alia by being called names, such as “You Namibians are very stupid and lazy”.
What The Namibian apparently DOES NOT want you to read about the NWR
Shareholders’ value in the Namibia Wildlife Resorts Company (N.W.R.) has, in the four years since its current Managing Director Tobie Aupindi took over in 2006, declined from an already disastrous minus N$5.69 per issued share in 2006 to an all-time low of minus N$13.00 for the past financial year, an analysis of its financial statements over the past five years showed.
NWR admits cash woes
NAMIBIA Wildlife Resorts (NWR) assured Old Mutual yesterday that it has Government backing and will in future adhere to all requirements of its N$62 million loan.
